It is a well known fact that the gulf states were once dependent over the pearling industry long before oil was discovered in the region. In our visit to Sheikh Faisal's museum, there were many displays, pictures and records of the expeditions that were once the main source of income to many in the region. I've read several articles and journals since then about the history of the pearling industry in the Gulf and foundto be specifically insightful. Now, I realize it is rather a long one but I encourage you to read at least parts of it.
