Wadhah -RE: Mohammed's Posts about Yemen's revolution

I intended to write this as a comment to one of Mohammed's posts on the Youth Revolution in Yemen, but I decided to post this as a separate posts for all to read. Many have questioned Yemen's ability and readiness for a civil society, people inspired, opposition-organized revolution like Egypt or Tunisia (or may be even Libya). My view is somewhat complicated. Perhaps I'll share my perspective when Yemen is our topic. In the meantime, I am attaching an amazing piece by Brookings' senior researcher Ibrahim Sharqieh, published in The National Interest. Ibrahim - a very critical observer of Yemen's politics and society who has researched and lived in Yemen for many yeas - argues that what happened in Egypt cannot be replicated in Yemen for reasons he outlines in this piece.
