Amna -Foreign Labor & Local Employment in the Gulf

While researching for our Ethnography project, I found this interesting opinion piece "Gulf states should cut foreign labour and promote local employment" by Farouk Sousa. He makes a link between the recent unrest in the Arab world, the underlying economic causes and need for better standards of living, with the big number of foreign labor in the Gulf. He sees the solution for unemployment in the Gulf is for governments to instead invest on the private sector to hire and train locals. It is worth taking a look at as he raises a few important points, even though it does not seem realistic for the Gulf to take this step in the foreseeable future.
